Investing in a co-operative is different to investing in a Limited Company or PLC. Cornwall Farmers Limited is registered as a Mutual Society under the provisions of the Industrial and Provident Act and as such is registered with the Financial Services Authority as the registering authority under that Act.  The activities of the Society are not however regulated by the Financial Services Authority as the Society does not carry out any “regulated activities” under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.

At present the minimum investment sum is £100 and the maximum is £20,000.

As member, you will receive interest on the account and when the business makes a profit, a bonus may be distributed too. In accordance with the society rules, you can redeem your investment by application to the Board. Members also participate in the capital growth of the business in accordance with the rules of the society, although this would only be distributed if Cornwall Farmers were sold or ceased trading.
