Investing in a co-operative is different to investing
in a Limited Company or PLC.
Cornwall Farmers is a friendly society registered under the same
Industrial and Provident Act as a traditional building society.
Indeed your investment works just like a traditional building
society account. You will receive interest on the account
and if the business makes a profit, a bonus may be distributed
too. In accordance with the society rules, you can redeem your
investment by application to the Board.
At present the minimum investment
sum
is £100 and the maximum is £20,000.
Members also participate in the capital growth of the business
in accordance with the rules of the society, although this would
only be distributed if Cornwall Farmers were sold or ceased trading.
