Continued Innovation With the Farmer in Mind
November 2009
With the aquatic summer over and the wet pasture well and truly tramped; Cornwall Farmers’ supplier, Fleming Agri-Products, with over 40 years of experience, has continued to develop their range of quality agricultural products to meet the growing needs of today’s modern requirements.
Land Rollers
Continuing on the success of the hydraulic folding land roller, the hydraulic lift roller and the Tandem units, Fleming’s have now designed and introduced two new End Tow Rollers to their range. A 10ft x 30” x ½” model and a 12ft x 36” x ½” model. Designed to be user friendly, with easy swing round drawbars and drop in pin security enables easy change-over from working to transport position. These two new products will allow easy transport along narrow country roads and entrances but give the advantage of greater cost efficiency. Construct on a structural box frame with twin hydraulic cylinders to raise the drums to good ground clearance, the End Tow Roller can be transported when fully laden.
The Fleming Land Roller range is available in a variety of sizes from 4ft to 20ft and can be purchased with an optional scraper blade.
Muck Spreaders
Due to the increased pressure from the nitrates directive to regulate the use of slurry on the land and the restriction of when it can be spread, combined with a move for better animal comfort and welfare through straw bedding animals, has seen a rise in the sale of solid manure muck spreaders. Cornwall Farmers can supply four different Fleming’s machines, from 1 - 4 cu. yd. machines for the equestrian market and hobby farmer, to the 6.5 - 9.5 cu. yd. machines for the larger stock farms who want to spread their own muck.
The Fleming machines have a number of design features that are unique to their spreaders. The MS 700 (6.5cu yd) and MS1000 ( 9.5 cu. yd.) machines have a heavy duty balanced rotor to minimise vibration, with double support twin starter bars for a quick start up and shorter unloading times. The lid is operated through a double acting hydraulic cylinder so that the lid can be opened wide for easier loading access. All bearings are mounted away from the main body of the machine so that the corrosive elements cannot cause damage to the bearings allowing for longer life and lower maintenance. The drive coming through a heavy duty chain and sprocket drive-line, geared to a ratio that puts least drive on the tractor providing a fuel efficient spread.
The drawbar on the Fleming Muck Spreader is reinforced to ensure that no misalignment in the chain drive-line can happen. The reinforced 4 mm body is bolted onto a heavy duty hydraulic braked axle with lights as standard and oversized wheel options.
Yardscapers
Recent design modifications to the existing range of Standard and Heavy Duty All Rubber Yardscrapers have proven highly successful in recent times, with recent years seeing annual sales being well over the 1,500 units mark. Both the Standard and Heavy Duty models are fully reversible from the tractor seat. Using a formed structural channel to support a flexible rubber with a fibre reinforcing mesh to provide strength and flexibility while in operation, combined with the new computer aided design to the linkage, creating better drag efficiency giving better ground pressure for a clean efficient sweep.
The latest addition to the Fleming Yardscraper range has arisen through customer demand for a hardwearing unit with an adjustable scraping width. The main features of the Flexy All Rubber Scraper include a fully adjustable function which will allow the user to alter the position of the scraper wings from 6ft to 7ft in 3 settings, giving more flexibility for use in more confined areas. The scraper is constructed using a heavy duty structural box frame with a computer aided design to support a specially moulded 50mm hard wearing rubber blade, which will tackle even the toughest of scraping jobs with ease and is fully reversible, using a simple latch mechanism from the tractor seat.
