Great Nutrition Means Nature And Nurture

18th June 2010

Cornwall Farmers Ruminant Technical Specialist, Matthew Jenkin, had a great show at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show as they took first prize in the Cornish Interbreed Dairy Cows Production and Inspection award with seventh-calver Romax America 20 EX93 -4E LP110 fed on Pinnacle Feeds.

GG & JM Jenkin & Son, of Boderloggan Farm, Helston, currently farm around 160 acres, on which they keep 250 pedigree Holstein heifers and several breeding bulls that are all reared on Duchy Blends. The heifers are all served to sexed semen then calved in and sold freshly calved, with the heifer calves being kept.

A delighted Matthew from Helston, said "We had a tremendous show, winning several prizes including reserve junior champion, but the pinnacle was to win the interbreed production inspection class for the third time and the second time with America who is now 12 years old and produced 116 tonnes of milk. America is due to calf again in September to sexed semen".
